saluting a martyr

Rajasthan, specially Jodhpur is known for its big number of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country. Not even in the various operations like Op Vijay of Kargil, but during the anti insurgency operations in the Jammu and Kashmir and North East, the soldiers from this desert land always display their courage and devotion towards the duty. Rifleman Bhairon Singh of 17-Rajputuna Rifles of the Indian Army was the latest one, who sacrificed his life at Siachen glacier, the world's highest battle field recently. He was among three soldiers who laid their life for the motherland during a patrol of the highest battlefield. His body was carried by road to his native village Tena of the Shergarh tehsil of Jodhpur on Tuesday (Nov. 15, 2011) and was cremated with full military honor. Number of Army officers and civil officers including District Magistrate S Mahajan joined the funeral. We salute the brave soldier.
